Software Engineer

Our mission

Sleegal’s mission is to make legal services accessible to everyone. At Sleegal, we are using machine learning to build a legal marketplace that accurately matches clients with lawyers. Today, users have to go online to search for lawyers on their own, giving calls to multiple lawyers hoping to find the right one with the right price. With our tech, users find the lawyers that truly match their needs, with just a few lines of online chat, and completely for free.

You will work closely with our founding team to develop our web content strategies. You will play a critical role in improving the user experience for clients and lawyers. We will expect you to not only solve problems but propose new ideas that may fundamentally change our product.

We are a dynamic team with a mixed background in law, business, and tech. Our core team members earned degrees from top US law schools and business schools and have deep experience building successful AI products in the Valley, ranging from autonomous vehicles to wearable devices. We are happy to mentor you and let you own projects in areas that you are interested in.

This position can start immediately.

You could be a great fit if you have

  • Background in computer science or a related field
  • +2 years of industry experience
  • Expert in Javascript, React.js, SCSS for frontend and Node.js for backend development
  • Experience with frameworks such as Next.js or Gatsby
  • Experience with AWS, i.e. Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, etc.
  • Entrepreneurial, a self-starter, motivated to bring a product from 0 to 1
  • Frontend design experience is preferred

Data Science Manager

Location: remote (our HQ is in the Bay Area)

Today, users have to go online to search for lawyers on their own, giving calls to multiple lawyers hoping to find the right one at the right price. With our tech, users can find the lawyers that truly match their needs, with just a few seconds of online chat, and entirely for free. 

You will work closely with our founding team and the engineering team to develop our data science and machine learning strategies. You will play a critical role in improving the quality of matching between clients and lawyers. We will expect you to not only solve problems but propose new ideas that may fundamentally change our product.

We are a dynamic team with a mixed background in law, business, and tech. Our core team members earned degrees from top law schools and business schools in the US and have deep experience building successful AI products in the Valley, ranging from autonomous vehicles to wearable devices. What’s in it for you

  • Own the end-to-end machine learning strategies for our product. Develop the narrative for the use of machine learning

  • At least 3 years of industry experience related to data science

  • Experience in writing and  implementing machine learning models
  • Experience in natural language processing (NLP)
  • Experience in data pipeline design and data cleaning
  • Experience in people management

  • Nice to have: SQL

Business Development Manager

Location: remote

What you will do

  • Research, identify and contact potential leads for member lawyers 
  • Conduct phone calls or video calls to describe Sleegal’s vision, value proposition and technological advantage to convince lawyer become our paying members 
  • Take copious notes of the lawyers’ practice, who they are, what they are looking for, their pain points, their reason for liking or disliking Sleegal AI’s approach 
  • Input lawyer relevant information in our data base 
  • Follow up with survey, updates and maintain the relationship 

Who you are

  • Passionate about Sleegal AI’s vision and tech 
  • Can do attitude, can hustle and can roll out your sleeves and find lawyers at a fast pace
  • Sell ice cube to eskimos, don’t take no for an answer 
  • Persuasive, persistent, pleasant but not overbearing or annoying 
  • Basic understanding of various legal practices and ability to connect with lawyers intellectually a plus

Legal Data Operations Intern

Location: remote

As a member of the Data Operations team, you will work closely with both our product and engineering teams to collect and process legal data. You will play a critical role in defining the efficiency of the search process as data is the backbone of machine learning.  With this role, you will have the opportunity to show off your legal knowledge, learn how AI works, and pivot between projects in a fast-paced environment.
